Benefits of Aerial Application

Tracks Calculator
The calculator below can display how much is lost by trampling crops.
Calculations are based on a full square quarter:
-
The number of passes required per quarter.
-
The potential loss in corners of the field due to turn radius.
-
The area trampled by the wheels of your ground sprayer.
It concludes, based on intended yield and crop value:
-
The % of crop loss due to trampling.
-
The $ value of the loss per acre.
-
The number of acres lost per quarter.
Aerial Application
Dollars and Sense
The cost of a custom ground application or your own sprayer (including payments, depreciation, fuel, maintenance, time, and wages) all cost money.
Trial studies show that aerial application will increase your yield by 2.5%-3.5% vs. ground application. This is due to tracks left behind by the ground sprayer.
Let’s figure this out. A ground application at a 2.5% loss on a 60-bushel canola crop with a canola price of $15 per bushel will cost you $22.50 per acre in track loss. And at 3.5% its $31.50 an acre.
60 x 2.5%= 1.5 bushels
1.5 x $15 = $22.50 per acre loss when using a ground application
It adds up, that's $3600 on 160 acres!
Remember this is ONLY the cost of tracks. Aerial application more than pays for itself in track loss alone giving you and your staff more of your valuable time and energy back to tackle other jobs around the farm.
